Parents’ day

Hello! My name is Peter and I would like to tell you about my day in this camp. Today we woke up at 8 but today was “Parents’ day” and we could sleep until 8:35. Then we had breakfast. After breakfast we learned our cheerleading dance for the floorball competition. Then we had the game “a minute to win it”. There were a lot of stations with different tasks. I really liked the “Quiz” station at the Watchtower. We were solving riddles. For example, “What occurs twice a week, once in a year, but never in a day?”. The answer was the letter ‘e’.

At the stations we won MMCleons. I bought Lays’ chips and chupa-chups.

During Naptime we played on our phones.

After that we had another meeting where we all did squats together.

Our team won the floorball competition and I think we had the best dance!

For stations at option I went to English funny games. I go to this station every day. Today there was one person from each squad and Nomi, Arina and John also came in the end. We played a lot of different games, for example, tic-tac bomb.

After dinner we watched a movie. I don’t remember the name of the movie but I really liked it. It is about how a man dies and then tries to return to his body. We watched it for 1:30 but didn’t finish it. It was in English with English subtitles. Subtitles helped to understand new words.

It is my first time in this camp. Before that I only went to the swimming camp in Kostroma. But I wasn’t staying there, here I live with different boys so I can talk to them and make friends. So I really enjoy my stay here and I would like to come to MMC next summer!

РУБРИКА ПЕДАГОГА

Hello, my name is Arina and I’m the counselor of the Blue Squad. First, I’d like to tell a little bit about myself. I graduated from the Higher School of Economics with a bachelor’s degree in Information Science and Computation Technology. Although I don’t specialize in linguistics I had a lot of subjects in English.

As a child I had an English tutor who told me about MMC. Since my first session here this camp has become one of my favorite places on the planet. Each year I was eagerly waiting for my return here. So now when I grew up I came here in the role of the counselor.

This camp is very special. Each day is filled to the brim with different exciting activities. Even English lessons are very entertaining and enjoyable. And learning is not limited to the classroom. Children are surrounded by English throughout the day. They spend a lot of time with our native speakers, play games and just mingle with them. I can tell from the experience that it really helps to overcome the most common issue when learning a foreign language — the fear of speaking.

However, the most wonderful thing about MMC is its warm and welcoming atmosphere. I always felt accepted and included here no matter what. So as a counselor I try my best to maintain it. Children have amazing opportunities to be creative and show off their individual talents as well as work together with their squad mates.

Today was our traditional “Parents’ day”. Children didn’t have their usual lessons, instead there was a camp game with different stations, a floorball tournament with cheerleading dances and a movie night. Our squad created special chants and posters to support their teammates and lift the overall team spirit. Children really enjoyed playing, we even had an honorary game “children vs staff members” which children won! I hope that today’s rest and relaxation will help our campers to start their usual classes tomorrow with renewed vigor!

Arina Lukina, counselor of the Blue Squad
