Unusual Game

Hello, my name is Sasha Kaduchenko. I’m from Moscow and I’m 14 years old. It is my third time in MMC camp. I’m going here to learn English and find more friends. Читать далее…

Today was a rainy day, but our chiefs and staff were like a suns and give us a lot of positive emotions. At afternoon our telephones were given back. I call my parents and I was glad to hear what they will come to see me at Parents day. (love you and miss very much)

At the evening we had an unusual table game. Our play field was our Heart of Island, our cube was a big box. Each tribe had their own judges. Vlad, sport instructor, and Masha, English teacher were judges of our tribe. We enjoyed Vlad’s jokes. The game was really funny, so we worked like a team. Tomorrow we will know who’s the winner. I hope it will be our tribe. I will never be disappointment in this camp because each year this place becomes better and better. It’s the middle of the session already but I haven’t noticed how time went by.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Joseph Keaton Toal. I am from the Dawsonville, Georgia in the United States. I have lived in the same town for my entire life and I even attend the University of North Georgia which is just a fifteen minute drive from my childhood home. My university career is actually what helped bring me to ММЦ. Up until my second year of college my hobbies/interests were all focused towards world-history and sports. From the age of five I found myself playing multiple sports such as American football, baseball, basketball, and wrestling. Two of which, football and wrestling, I really enjoyed and continued until just a few years ago. I even picked up playing rugby for a short time and hope to play more when I return home. During the time that I was playing sports I was also very interested in world history, which of course included Russian history. This led me to study international affairs in university, and eventually I began to study the Russian language. This is my second time in Russia and my first time here in Nerekhta. It is here at ММЦ that I get to enjoy being a sports instructor (Sporticus) at the camp while practicing my Russian as well, therefore combining two long standing interests of mine into one amazing job.

Each day my partner Vlad and I set up our sports lessons. Some examples are rock climbing, floorball, volleyball, basketball, rollersurf, handball, and a camp favorite swimming. On some days when the weather isn’t good we keep our lessons indoors where we can play ping-pong and darts. The lessons are specifically set up to introduce English vocabulary for each sport, teach the rules of each game, build the abilities of each individual, and to challenge the children both mentally and physically. In order to evaluate the progress of the children we conduct exams for some of our more popular lessons. Some of the exams can be passed in the first week of the session, while others tend to be more difficult and therefore require more time.

Today’s lesson was volleyball. For many of the kids volleyball is a step up from an easier game known as pioneerball. So, naturally some of the kids struggled with this game. Nonetheless, everyone here during this session is being given their chance to shine, show their skills, and improve in all aspects. Later in the day we had what is called “Stations at Option”. During this time each of the children have a chance to pick a station which suits them the most. This can be sports, English lessons, communication games, workshop, yoga, Mafia, and many more. For the sports station today the children enjoyed a very active game of floorball. Some of our counselors joined in the game along with the kids, and it lasted for the full hour and twenty minutes. Something that I have found to be great about the group this session is their maturity, excitement, and teamwork. These characteristics combine to make sports lessons so much fun for me and Vlad. I can’t say enough about how much joy I have gained from the kids during the past week and a half. I can only say I that I look forward the time we have left together, and I hope that they feel the same level of excitement that many of the teachers and counselors do.

Sincerely, Keaton, sportinstruсtor
